State Leadership Conference

This trip is perhaps the most important trip we go on. On this trip, we compete at the State Level, while also voting for candidates for the State Board and advancing our chapter. Despite the apparent busyness, there's plenty of time to network and simply relax.

Here is some important information, some of which is summarized from the SLC FAQs (which is part of the SLC packet uploaded here):

Who can go and compete?

All of those who entered into a Regional or State Competition can go; those who did Regionals but didn't place can still do State or National-level competitions.

How much will it cost?

The cost is $225 per student; that includes registration, hotel room, and lunch. (Note: You are responsible for breakfast and dinner.) You can pay in cash or make checks payable to FHS FBLA.

What are some important dates?

  • Permission slip due date: December 18, 2015
  • State Competition Submission deadline: January 13, 2016
  • SLC: February 17 to 19, 2016

Is there a dress code?

Yes. You must wear formal business attire, with the exception of Wednesday and Thursday night (with the SLC dance). The full code can be viewed in the original SLC FAQs.

What exactly will we be doing at States?

Participants can perform a variety of tasks:

  • Compete in their state-level competitions
  • Help out with our Junior Achievement workshop
  • Help our voting delegates choose the next state board
  • Participate in a so-called "Open Competition"
